Review: Afternoon Tea at Hello Little Cupcake

Hello Lovelies,

This blog post is something new entirely - a review! I haven't done a review on my blog before, so I thought I would give it a go seen as I've been to some awesome places recently.

I admit, this one has been in my draft section for a long time... As I did this many months ago, oopsy!

During the month of January, specialist search marketing company - The E Word was hosting a competition in celebration of their 7th Birthday. I just so happened to come across one of their competition tweets and ended up winning it!

All the competition posts were to do with the number 7 - so, to win you had to tweet your favourite memory from your 7th Birthday. Luckily, I still had the pictures from my 21st Birthday on my phone and happened to have a picture from my 7th Birthday - which won me the prize of Afternoon tea for two at Hello Little Cupcake (@HLCupcake).

I was incredibly excited because I had never been for afternoon tea before but had always wanted to go. This gave me the best reason to go. I rallied up my two friends and asked them if they fancied coming with me. The prize was for two people, so we called up and expressed we would like an extra person and we split the third person bill between us. The usual price is £12 each for afternoon tea, which is a bargain compared to other places and you definitely get more than what you pay for.

When I entered Hello Little Cupcake I was pleasantly surprised as it was smaller than what I thought it was going to be. The cupcakery is decorated as only a cupcakery should be decorated - pink, pink and more pink. The walls were covered in vintage style art (which was for sale) and the counter was a great size and had the cupcakes on show for all to see (and be tempted!)

I think it was safe to say we were very, very excited! Especially after seeing our table was reserved - it was a cute little white table with an array of different seats. We sat down, ordered our drinks and awaited the treats.

The staff were incredibly friendly! Huge smiles, accommodating and made sure we had everything we needed - which was amazing!
And then the food came...

Oh my goodness! It was better than expected. The cupcake shaped sandwiches were to die for, incredibly cute! The fillings were ham and cucumber and egg and cress. The vegetarian with us took the ham off her sandwiches, just ate the cucumber,  passed the ham to my other friend, who just ate the ham and I stuck to the egg and cress, as I was the only one who liked egg. The amount of sandwiches were just enough and we were ready to delve into our sweet treats.

The sweet treats certainly didn't disappoint. Looking at these images again is making my mouth water!

As you can see there was a huge variety! To drink I had a mocha to start and then a Fentimans rose lemonade - which was divine!

The sweet treats on offer were; chocolate covered strawberries, a variety of cupcakes (we had red velvet, chocolate and vanilla, all of which were delicious) a scone each with clotted cream and jam.

There was enough to go around everybody, and was even surprisingly filling! The cupcakes were lovely, perfectly moist with lots of flavour! The scones were still warm (yes, still warm!!) and the clotted cream and jam complemented one another beautifully. I'm not usually a fan of clotted cream on my scones but I did give this one a try and was surprised at how much I liked it! Very, very yummy! Obviously, the chocolate covered strawberries were good too, but who doesn't like chocolate and strawberries together?

Here we are enjoying our coffees and treats! It was the perfect day out and I would go back in a heartbeat... Actually, I did! I liked it so much I booked a table for me and Mum for her birthday! It was equally a pleasant trip!

We rounded our trip off with a visit to the local pub for a cheeky drink and a good chinwag! Overall, a perfect, perfect day!

Obviously my post wouldn't be complete without an outfit!

Shirt - Primark, Trousers - Miss Selfridge, Blazer - H&M and Hat - Ebay

I thought I would stick to the theme of lady-like-ness, seen as we were going for afternoon tea, and wore my favourite wide leg, bottle green pants with my leopard print shirt!

Of course, we had to go home with a takeaway! I chose the oreo cupcake - it was AMAZING! It even has a full sized oreo in the centre which was a very welcome surprise!

I literally had the best day with the best company!

I would like to thank The E Word for choosing me as their winner and allowing me to have this super lovely day out!

Thank you to Hello Little Cupcake for the amazing service and equally as amazing food! I'll definitely be back again for a third time!

You all definitely need to go to Hello Little Cupcake, even if just for a little treat, it is most definitely worth the trip and is a very reasonable prize for £12 each!

Hopeful
